Historical Background
World War Two started on Sept, 1st 1939 with the
invasion of Poland. Two days later France and Great Britain declared war
on Germany.
Thus began six years of fighting which culminated in
the dropping of the atom bomb on Hiroshima and Japan's surrender. Over
62 million people died (although some estimates put it much higher).
Warfare would never be the same again. At the start cavalry
were still used. By the end radar, jets and rockets were part of military
warfare. Tactics developed too, especially armoured warfare with the advent
of "Blitzkrieg" (Lightning War).
By the end the world was completely changed, politcally,
economically and geographically with many borders re-drawn.
